Climate change and the transition to a sustainable society are the greatest challenges of our time. To tackle these crises, we need more than just theoretical knowledge or isolated solutions. That is why the Bildung Climate School has adopted a revolutionary educational approach that places the whole person at its core. By interweaving science, practical skills, and personal development, young people are prepared to shape a just world with courage and creativity.

The strength of this innovative school lies in breaking down traditional barriers within education. In a single classroom, students from vocational, higher professional, and university programs collaborate closely with one another. It is precisely by bringing together these diverse backgrounds and perspectives that a dynamic learning community is created. After all, societal transitions do not adhere to the boundaries of educational levels. The era of hyper-specialized compromise is over, and this unique mix creates a tangible impact in the real world.

Within the program

The philosophy is clearly divided among the head, the hands, and the heart. Students are challenged to think critically and to understand the scientific reality of our planet. At the same time, they gain hands-on experience through concrete projects, internships, and the development of tangible sustainability skills. Because confronting today’s ecological reality can be emotionally intense, the school also places great emphasis on personal reflection, martial arts, and building inner resilience. In this way, young people learn to care for themselves and one another, so that they remain hopeful and proactive.

The school operates out of Erasmus University Rotterdam and has ambitious goals for the coming years. Starting in September, a fully accredited 10-week minor will be offered, open to students of all levels. This is the first step toward an even greater goal, as the school is working hard to develop a six-month integrated curriculum. By making education, art, and science accessible to all young people, the school is laying the foundation for a new generation of resilient and holistic leaders.
