I learned a lot from books, but the most I learned was when I went in front of the classroom myself. In exchanges with students, I was challenged to really explore who I am and how I want to relate to the world. For me, that's where bildung begins.

I studied Humanistics at the University for Humanistics in Utrecht and was trained there as a teacher of philosophy of life and citizenship, among other things. I taught at the MBO and university in subjects such as professional speaking, conversation skills and intercultural communication. I was also trained as a humanistic spiritual counselor and took courses in TGI and systemic work. I also supervise family constellations in Utrecht.

At De Bildung Academie I work as a trainer, program maker and coach. Among other things, I am involved in the program Ambassadors of Amsterdam and the MBO Denktank, where young people work for a nicer city and better policies. I also coach young professionals looking for meaning, healthy relationships and impact in their lives and work.

Bildung for me means: learning in dialogue. Not only from books but precisely through encounters with others. These can sometimes confront you with a completely different reality and invite you to explore what you think, feel and find important. I like to make room for that in my work at The Bildung Academy; searching, doubting and learning together.
